well in viewing the original manuscript you can try to see the changes made to the story ( that is if anyone in this world can read it)and compare it with its final version while with new technologie if you see somthing you dont like you can simply press the delete button ( like i just did ) and no one would really be able to see the changes unless each time the person changed something they would save ( wich we all know is irrational).
ps: i'm not really sure this is what you where looking for so i just kinda took a whack at it

technology has changed this story by its hand writting. with technology the closest you can really get to having unique style of writting is in what font you choose but with a computer it is the same boring new times roman every time.
that one is mine about typing

Technology has changed writing today dramatically. You used to use a quil pen on paper and make those weird symbols to indicate changes. Now days you can look over your essay or paper online and change it right away. People will never know if the author changed something becase its not visible anymore with how much our technology has improved.

When I looked at the original manuscript I was trying to see the little changes that were made...but as we all know that is very hard to see. When you are on a computer you can change anything you want in an instant. I think that the font or pictures in a story can tell a lot about a story
and what kind of story it really is, and that makes a big difference and can almost give you a different feel for the story. A Christmas Carol went from being hand written to in books and now we are going to see it on the big screen. Technology has changed this story in many diffferent ways.

i think that the original manuscript is very hard to read but i you look very hard you can see the changes. But with new technology if you simply press s but you want a c then all you have to do is press the delete button and the it goes away. Also if you press the delete button the no one can see your mistake .

Some values I see in looking at the original manuscript of The Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, is seeing all of the changes that DIckens made. Also Dickens is one of the most famous authors and the manuscript is treasured. Many changes in writing will occur in the future. Some things are, when you make a change you will not be able to see what you changed and what is was before when you are typing on a computer. When you write you can see all of the changes and what it was before you changed it.

Some values that I saw when I looked at the original manuscript on the website by Charles Dickens is that in the original, you can see the changes and the edits that he had changed with hi own handwriting. Also, that the original was a treasure to the library in New York because you are able to see all 66 pages of the manuscript and see what Charles Dickens had changed it. All though technology has changed today, you are not able to redo what you had undone with your writing mistakes. Lastly, when you write your own story you can see your mistakes and change them with you ability to fix it.

the manuscript should be protected and saved, because it is a reference to an event in history that we all can learn from. it is also a historical artifact, it is very old, and also you can kinda see that either the paper was messy or that charles dickens was. the library should also keep a glass shield protecting the book so that people won't get their dirty and messy hands all over the book, also it needs to be shielded from the elements, and kept in a controlled enviroment.

I value seeing it because it is like going in into the past and seeing what Carles Dickens was thinking when he was writing a christmas carol. I think in the future they will think it was funny for us to be reading in books, i think that in the future No one will use books, isntead you will just upload them all to a computer or have a hooligram to read from.

when you look at the original manuscript you try to find out what changes he made to his own writing but with computers you can can just press delete and then change so you rely aren't able to see the changes he or any one else did. it plus like Riley T said you don't get the same fell for the writing because the computer does not let you add your own personal touch.

I think it's fascinating when you can look at something that someone with extraordinary talent once created from scratch. It's valuable because you can tell so much about that person, like their writing style, if they were in a hurry when they wrote that sentence, or what they think sounds bad, just from looking at the text. Due to technology, this value will not be there. when you are typing on a computer and you want to change something, you cant see what you originally wrote. But technology can also be positive. You can create your story faster, and you can get it printed faster.

I think it is important that they have the origional copy because for being that old the story has been changed and changed just like cinderella and all those other fairy tails. Also this might sound crazy but its almost an advertisment.

Yhe values of seeing the orginal mabuscript are that you can see what the author was origanlly thinking about writing and what the changed it to for the final piece. Where as with todays technology you can just press delete and your orginal ideas will be gone, and people will never know that you had a different idea in the first place. Also with the orginal manuscript of "A Christmas Carol" you can see that Charles Dickens had very sloppy handwriting and that he wrote it very fast, but you can actually see some of the changes that he made.

There are many values of seeing the orginal manuscript, but seeing all the changes that Charles Dickens made was amazing. Also, it is awesome to see the orginal piece of work from a respected author. I predict that technology will change the future of writing because we won't be able to notice all revisions that authors make today because they right their stories on the computer. Whereas if you were to write the story, you could see these changes.
~Rachel M
The values of seeing the actual manuscript are being able to see the choices he made on how he thought the story should go. Also about what words he thought should go into the story to make it more intersting. Tecnology will cange writing in he future because you will never actually be able to see the first script and all of the revisions and editing the author maked. Most authors today write their stories on a computor making it imposible the see the first revisions.

Some of the values that i saw in the original manuscript is seeing how charles dickens made many mistakes in his writing. As Mrs. Deichlboher says you dont have to know how to spell to be a good writer! It also shows (it looks to be) how it seems like he wrote it very fast and sloppily. Compared to the orginal manuscript and our technology today, its very different. Nowadays if you have spelling or grammar problems all you have to do is simply press "spell check". Also with the computer/keyboard's, you can easily read the writng vs. Charles Dickens sloppy writing.

I noticed two main values in reading the original manuscript of the Christmas Carol. One is that you can truly see that Charles Dickens rushed to write that. It is nearly impossible to read his handwriting. The other value is that you can see his self-editing. He made as many mistakes as the average person, but his aren't erased or deleted. It's cool to see what his original ideas were!
-Jared F
i think its wierd and different to be able to because what were reading is like a play but thats more like a book. i think even though you can type on a computer, you should still write some things by hand. i think alot of people are gonna stop handwriting and just type.
garrett g
It is so true that good spelling does not make a good writer! Our technology today helps all of us to be good spellers, but the other skills of writing are more difficult to measure and far more valuable. I agree that viewing the original manuscript is interesting and important because it enables us to look into the process of writing and understand a little bit the thinking of Charles Dickens as we follow his edits and changes. I wonder too if he rewrote this much neater so the printer could clearly read it??
Mrs. Sorenson
Some value I saw while reading the original manuscript of The Christmas Carol was the history of the first copy of what would one day be one of the most famous Christmas stories ever. I also saw what the original version was like without being changed over the various times it has been rewritten. Some changes that I predict are going to happen because of technology changing is writing is going to lose a lot of the personal touch of an author because the stuff that is considered wrong by a computer is going to be changed and also the originality of an author's work is going to and already has started to be lost because instead of an author's unique handwriting it's all becoming a font typed by a computer.
Chris Nielsen :]
instead of using a pen and paper like they did when Charles Dickens wrote the original story. I think that this story is thought of as valuable because "A Christmas Carol" is a story a lot of people grew up knowing it as a story they were told as a child and so to see the original manuscript in person to some people is a trip that they will always remember.
Natalie Hamley
Ithink the value of seeing the manuscript is you can see thingsabout the culture in that time and the different canges he made to make his writing better. With our technology you do not have to handwrite anything and you can somewhat edit your paper/book on the computer.
-Ben Rauzi
When looking at the manuscript it's hard to see the changes made aswell as read it. Teachnology has changed the way of writing in the way that on the manuscript corrections were made by hand. However now adays corrections are made by machine, and no one could see the corrections you make. With the paper you cross things out and eplace them, electronically they are removed without a trace of being removed.
Gavin V.
I think people like us find the value in looking at original manuscripts and finding a door linking to the past( for example The Christmas Carol) and seeing how technologie has changed since then in the way we write and communicate with one another.

In viewing th manuscript, i saw all of the different changes that Charls Dickens had made. It was the frist time the story had ever been written on paper, and its in his handwriting. It is so important to the library in New York because it is the REAL copy. I think that the one page that you see every year on display there, must be the page with the biggest message. People made so many different versians of A Christmas Carol, and to be able to see the real first copy makes it very valuable.
I think that you can tell a lot about a person or the piece of writing by the handwriting. For instance in this you can tell he was trying to write quickly. Also you can see the changes made which i think help you understand the story more because you can see what the author was actually thinking. With all the technology i kind of think we are striving for too much perfection, we are afraid to show people our mistakes, and we have all these things that can correct us without anyone knowing. (heck right there i pressed the backspace like 50 times in just this short little post)I think that in the future writing will be different, and all of these masterpieces will mean nothing, because people will stop reading as much and it will have less importance.
-Alyssa E :)
i think that the values of seeing the original manuscript is that you can see what charles dickens was origanally going to put and then changed. this also shows his perspective on writing and what he thought would make it a better story. In the future there will be no handwriten versions of anything because everything will be digital. I also think that in the future writing might not be changed as much because everything is so digital and people will think that writing it once is good because it looks like a final copy. i hope that in the future we still have stories that are just as imaginative as the stories that we read now.
:)Laura S.
I value being able to see the orignal script before it got editted and re-written in a computer format because it's more unique and valuable when it's in the orignal autor's handwritting. It shows what he had to do to accomplish writting one of the most famous christmas stories of all time. In the future, I don't think many authors will write out their stories before typing, I believe they'll just type it.
Lauren Nguyen (:
You can learn many thing, with a wide range. You can learn of Dicken's personality, as well as how to become a better writer. One could study those and essentially be taking lessons from one of the greatest writer's of all time!
Due to modern technology, you can no longer see those types of thing's, so it makes it harder to, say, change a sentence back to the way you had it, and learn from your mistakes, preventing one from making the same mistake twice.
My sis says nice bunny Sam!

Technology has changed writing a lot. Now instead of another Christmas story, it may be "A Christmas story dramatized by:" with the person making small or big changes adding it in to the old manuscript only using copy and paste. Even though the only similarity may be scrooge. And technology is selling writing in different ways also. We have eBooks, ipod apps for downloading books, tv and portable movies which have evolved from writing. Tecnology has changed writing a lot and it only going to keep getting more advanced.
-Sam K.
When you see the original manuscript you can see all the changes that were made to the story. You can use the original copy and compare it to the final edited version.
Brenna S.
Writing is an art, and like most art styles change. The example of computers and microsoft word are no execption. Writing used to be done by hand, with mistakes visble to everyone. Now you can cut, paste, and edit.
Matt H
you can see the value in the editing because if someone were able to read it, literature books would tell the REAL story. i would also like to see how different the real one is compared to the one that we read in class. i think writing will become faster and easier due to technology because someone, someday will probably make an automatic editing feature that will edit faster than you can say "Charles Dickens". (if we don't have that feature already).
Ben s
I think being able to view the original manuscript is very valuable because it is a way for us as people to get a feel for what Charles Dickens ideas originaly were and how he thought a Christmas Carol should be. For the future a think instead of writing story we will be typing and sending it through the worldwide web.
Nicole.T.
Technology has changed everything ,including writing.Especially with the Charles Dikens book in our sights you can see the dramatic change between the clear easy to read typing and the hard ink blotting un- earasible quill .tou can hardly read if atall the original manuscript but the one thats typed in our text-books was so clear we could read it in a accent.
Nick S
I think that being able to see the changes he made is neat because today we make tons of changes by pressing the delete button or cut, copying and pasting and no one knows what the original story was. Where as you can see all of the changes in the original script of the Christmas Carol. With the new technology we have today, people can make changes in seconds and make it look perfect.
-Riley C.
The original manuscript shows me how fast he was writing it and how many mistakes he made. You can see all the changes he made in the original manuscript. Technology makes writing a whole lost easier then back then. Now, you can type writing and use spell check to check for gramer mistakes. It's also really easy to add and delete sentences and words. With all the new inventions coming out writing will just get easier.

p.s. sorry its a little late
Hi!!!
Haha heyyy im just a sixlit checking in with all the stuff you seventh graders do (: (quite an odd thing to do really but thats just me)
So bye byee
J.o.h.n J!!!
i think you can look back and see what you have changed to edit it and you can see what was going through your mind as you were writeing to understand your own writeing more. i think technolgy is takeing to life aspect out of writeing when you type its lifeless theres no person behind it and you cant see what they were thinking when they wrote it,
bailey H.
The value I see in being able to analyze the original manuscript is being able to look back into the past and compare it with the future. Back then, they way the wrote, spoke, and dressed where completley different from now. It's incredible to be able to see Dickens's handwriting, it gives the story and old time-ish feeling.
Technology has changes writing in many ways. For instance, no body really writes anymore, we all type. Also, unlike Dickens, there is not much to edit since Microsoft Word has a built in spell check and grammar check. In the future, that will probably changed even more by ways unknown to me now.
I'm sorry this is so late.
~Emily O.
technology has changed a lot over the years and its way way faster because if you mess up, you can erase a lot or erase a little but in a short amount of time.
Eujune k.
P.S. i am sorry this is sooo late
I think that its important that they have the original copy because when new writers re-write something they might change the story a little and then the next writer might change it a little bit and then its happening again and again. Also when you write your own story you see your mistakes and change them so you can fix it.
p.s im really sorry this is so late i commented a while ago back in December but i guess it didn't post then.
